At City Lawyers not only do we help clients receive the compensation that can enable them to live an independent life post injury, we also aid their physical and psychological rehabilitation. With the help of our network of leading physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists and specialist therapists, our clients can begin their personal road to recovery.
Psychological treatment
We have a network of experienced clinical psychologists who have helped clients suffering from post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD), depression and adjustment disorders (a difficulty adjusting to a major life change or event) following the impact of an accident. Such interventions have helped clients overcome significant difficulties and enabled them to return to a life that is closer to or better reflects their pre-accident situation. For example, a number of our clients have suffered PTSD following a road traffic accident and have struggled to get back in a car, had difficulties returning to an accident location or generally going out at all. The right support from experts in this field has helped them start driving again, be able to manage passing an accident scene and begin to go out once more. Other clients, such as cyclists, have faced giving up their hobby due to psychological injuries but our experts have helped them get them back on their bikes.
Care and case management
In cases involving more serious injuries we are able to engage the services of care and occupational therapy experts who can assist clients – and their families – with the management of many aspects of daily life. These therapy experts can also advise on suitable aids and equipment to improve a client’s quality of life and assist in rehabilitation. This may involve us bringing in a case manager who can assist with the recruitment and management of carers or support workers, to help and assist injured clients. The arrangements are tailored to fit the needs of both the client and their family and can range from live in care packages to more ad hoc arrangements.
Physical therapies
In our years of helping clients, we have witnessed the significant benefits that can be achieved from receiving timely input from therapies such as physiotherapy. At City Lawyers we work closely with experts to try to ensure that early intervention is received. We also work hard to ensure funding is made available in cases where we can obtain interim payments before a settlement is reached.
Driving adaptation
Certain injuries can affect an injured person’s ability to drive and thus compromise independent living. But it is often possible to adapt a vehicle to help the client achieve independence again. We have strong relationships with vehicle and wheelchair conversion specialists who can assess our clients’ requirements. This could involve our specialist team making a claim on our clients’ behalf for appropriate adaptation of vehicles as part of their case.
